AVIAN awarded Multi-Vehicle Communications System support contract

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., - AVIAN LLC was recently awarded a 5 year / $26.6M contract to provide the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Beach, Florida with production support for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Multi-Vehicle Communications System (MVCS).

AVIAN will provide services for engineering drawings generation; producing, assembling, repairing and overhauling the MVCS; as well as financial management support; programmatic support; technical manual generation; training support; configuration management; inventory management; and mechanical, electronic and software engineering support.

“This win is huge for our local AVIAN family,” said Geoff McConnell, AVIAN’s Southeast Operations Manager in Panama City Beach. “Expanding our work in PCB [Panama City Beach] to include LCS communications systems is new work and we can’t wait to get started.”

AVIAN’s team is comprised of Alion, Engility, EPS Corporation, ISPA Technologies and Purvis.

This is the second prime contract win for AVIAN in Panama City Beach within the last three months.

In November, AVIAN won a 5 year / $15M contract providing logistics support and training for current and future Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM) systems.

“This essentially doubles our workforce in Panama City, which is very exciting,” said McConnell. “These two contract wins will continue AVIAN’s great support of the H-53 helicopter community and will be a fresh new beginning for LCS communications support.”

For the AMCM contract, AVIAN will provide technical support to the government by developing and sustaining Life Cycle Management (LCM) and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) processes and products for AMCM systems. The effort includes activities pertaining to the established Integrated Product Support elements during acquisition of future AMCM systems, and sustainment of currently fielded AMCM systems.

AVIAN has been supporting NSWC Panama City since 2008. Research Development Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) projects supported include: The Assault Breaching System; AN/AQS-20A Sonar and Laser System; Remote Multi-Mission Vehicle; Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Systems; Airborne Mine Countermeasures; Multi-Vehicle Communication System; Compact Modular Sensor & Processing Suite; Gremlin and Mine Hunting Unmanned Surface Vehicle.
