Making a Difference Together: AVIAN Joins the Cause for NDEAM with Warfighter Advance Donation

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), observed every October, is a national campaign in the United States that promotes supportive employment policies and celebrates the contributions of individuals with disabilities in the workforce. The Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) has chosen "Advancing Access and Equity" as the theme for NDEAM 2023.

This important initiative seeks to raise awareness about the employment challenges faced by people with disabilities and to emphasize the value they bring to the workforce. It encourages employers, businesses, and communities to foster a more welcoming and accessible environment, providing equitable opportunities for all.

The history of NDEAM traces back to 1945, when it started as a week and focused only on people with physical disabilities. Later, it expanded to a full month, and its name and scope evolved to acknowledge the importance of broadening workforce opportunities for people with disabilities.

To support NDEAM, individuals can get involved by volunteering with organizations that empower disabled individuals and promoting awareness and understanding of disability-related issues in their communities.

To show our support during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, AVIAN is donating to Warfighter Advance, a nonprofit organization based out of Patuxent River, Maryland. Warfighter Advance aims to reintegrate veteran warfighters back into society and the workforce through non-psychiatric medication processes. The organization utilizes an education, training, and holistic based approach to heal the mental and emotional well-being of our returning heroes. Warfighter Advance aims to provide a comprehensive support system for veterans that goes beyond traditional medical care in hopes of integrating warfighters back into society and reducing the rate of post-deployment suffering and suicide.

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month and beyond, AVIAN is proud to stand alongside Warfighter Advance in their mission to support veterans and help them thrive in both the civilian workforce and society. By supporting Warfighter Advance, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.
